KCS launches a new online service in partnership with The Education People and PlanBee
Working in partnership with The Education People and lesson-planning experts, PlanBee, an independent partner made up of former teachers and experts in lesson-planning, KCS is launching KCS Connect; a home-learning and support hub for children of all ages and abilities.
The site will offer access to free education resources including lesson plans, worksheets, and guides, as well as the opportunity to access discounted materials such as stationery, arts and crafts, puzzles, games, and sports kits.
Originally set up by KCS – one of the largest suppliers of educational resources to schools and nurseries in the world – in the wake of the first UK lockdown, Connect initially provided access to discounted learning supplies typically sold in wholesale quantities to KCS customers.
To date, more than 2,000 families have benefited from access to its resources and home education tools, including stationery, outdoor play equipment, arts and crafts, games, puzzles, sports kits, and activities. Bestselling items throughout the pandemic include English curriculum resources, ready mixed paint, colouring pencils and arts and crafts materials.
Paul Ratcliffe, Group Marketing Manager at KCS, said: “Having worked with schools and nurseries for more than 90 years, we understand the challenges parents are facing in these difficult times. Connect was launched in direct response to the needs of parents, teachers, carers, and learners across the country, who suddenly found themselves thrust into the world of learning at home.
“We have worked hard with our partners, The Education People and PlanBee, as well as our hundreds of product suppliers, to develop Connect with inclusivity in mind. Learning is not just about textbooks; it’s really important that youngsters have access to tools that allow them to socialise, play and better understand the world around them.
“We look forward to providing learners and carers with this service for as long as it is needed.”
Oli Ryan at PlanBee, said: “What is key is that this resource remains a community support project alongside the curriculum and in partnership with teaching experts, delivering the best possible support for parents and carers at home. It’s a privilege to work with KCS to provide this crucial service.”
The launch of Connect comes following work by Kent County Council – the KCS shareholder – and local resilience forums to deliver more than 14 million items of PPE to frontline care and support workers throughout the pandemic. The local authority has also played a critical role in the set-up and ongoing support of asymptomatic testing sites.
